چکیده

Objective: Bilateral renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is an extremely rare renal tumor, even more infrequently with two different types of pathology. Methods: We present a case of bilateral RCC with simultaneous retroperitoneal laparoscopic nephron-sparing surgery (RLNSS) in a 56-year-old male patient. Results: The postoperative histopathologic examination indicated that the left was clear cell carcinoma, yet the right was chromophobe cell carcinoma. The patient was alive at the 15-month follow-up examination without any adjuvant therapy. Conclusions: As far as we know, it is the first case of bilateral RCC with different types of pathology treated with simultaneous RLNSS. This technique can be extended due to the benefits of the short-term postoperative recovery and more widely acceptance of the patients.

AB113. Comparisons of prognosis between urothelial carcinoma of the upper urinary tract and bladder with pT3-4 diseases

Objective: To compare the prognosis of locally advanced upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) and bladder tumor (BT) in patients treated with radical surgeries. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed records on 228 consecutive UTUC patients and 174 consecutive BT patients between 2000 and 2012, both with high-stage diseases. Overall and cancer-specific survival was compared using the Kaplan-Mei...

High-Grade Urothelial Carcinoma of Bladder Transforming to Micropapillary Variant on Follow-Up

Micropapillary variant of urothelial carcinoma (UC) of the bladder is an aggressive tumour, comprising 0.6-6% of all UC. It generally presents with high-grade and stage, and has been reported as having a worse prognosis when compared to traditional UC. We report the case of a 58-year-old man who presented with macroscopic haematuria. The patient was diagnosed with high-grade urothelial carcinom...

High Expression of 17β-hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase Type 2 is Associated with a Better Prognosis in Urothelial Carcinoma of the Urinary Tract

Object: To identify associations between 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 (HSD17B2) expression and clinicopathological variables and prognoses in patients with urothelial carcinoma of the urinary tract. Materials and Methods: We analyzed one public transcriptome dataset (GSE31684) from the Gene Expression Omnibus. HSD17B2 showed the highest log2-transformed fold-change in expression, and...

Downregulation of RNF128 Predicts Progression and Poor Prognosis in Patients with Urothelial Carcinoma of the Upper Tract and Urinary Bladder

Background: The TP53 tumor suppressor gene plays a crucial role in the carcinogenesis of many malignancies, including urothelial carcinoma (UC). Overexpression of p53 is associated with poor prognosis in UC. Recently, RING finger protein 128 (RNF128) was shown to be involved in p53-induced apoptosis, forming a negative feedback loop. However, the significance of RNF128 in patients with UC remai...

Relationship between grade and MDM2 oncoprotein overexpression in transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder

Objective: Transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) of the urinary bladder is the second common cancer of the genitourinary tract. Several parameters such as clinical and pathological parameters, molecular factors, and etc play a role in determination of prognosis and type of treatment. In this research study, ...
